Note that Tufftalk  Lite headsets are sold individually.  2 headsets are required to communicate headset-to-headset.

The Tufftalk line of intercom headsets have noise attenuation and ear protection built-in, so they are useful in situations where high ambient noise presents a problem for clear communication.  Marine applications include jetboats, airboats, commercial docks, powerboats, military, law enforcement, etc.

There are 3 models of Tufftalks. The Tufftalk, the Tufftalk-M, and the Tufftalk Lite.  The Tufftalk Lite featured here is a lower-profile version of the original Tufftalk.  See comparison between the different models down below.

The lightweight Tufftalk Lite headset allows users to communicate with 3 other users at ranges of up to 800 meters.  You can also listen to music, and connect to your smartphone to take and make calls. Seamless full-duplex Bluetooth intercom communication allows users to talk headset-to-headset without interruption. With HD-quality stereo speakers and Advanced Noise Control technology, these headsets deliver clear audio in even the loudest of work environments.  Tufftalk Lites are also is available in a hard hat mount version.

Comparison

Tufftalk and Tufftalk Lite vs. 2Talk and SPH10

The new Tufftalk and Tufftalk Lite intercom headsets are quite different from our SPH10 and 2Talk products.  The 2Talk and SPH10 models are on-the-ear models for use outdoors and in relatively lower-noise environments, while the Tufftalk models are all over-the-ear earmuff models designed for higher-noise environments that need noise attenuation/ear-protection.

The Tufftalk noise-control line is designed for industrial worksites and high-noise environments where clear communication is required.  Tufftalk headsets have noise reduction rating (NRR) of 24 dB, and the Tufftalk Lite has an NRR or 24dB.  All of our headsets also feature Advanced Noise Control technology to allow for clear communication by reducing the background noise picked up by the microphone.  Tufftalk and Tufftalk Lite utilize Bluetooth 4.1, so they can interface with an optional Mesh technology adapter to enable unlimited group intercom communications. Tufftalks also have built-in FM stereo.  Hard-hat models are also available (20dB NRR).  The newest model, The Tufftalk M, includes both Mesh and Bluetooth integrated into the headset.

Ambient noise is reduced on Tufftalk Lite models but you can still hear someone speaking directly to you.  The Tufftalk and Tufftalk M models have a higher noise reduction rating of 24dB and 26dB NRR respectively, and if you want to hear or amplify ambient sound, you can do that using the ambient button, which opens the microphone so you can hear sounds or conversations around you.  The other advantage of the full Tufftalk or Tufftalk M model is that you can swap out battery packs, or even use regular disposable batteries if you exceed 10 hours of talking in one day.  The Tufftalk and Tufftalk M  also have an external antenna for greater range (Tufftalk Lite is only rated for 800 meters).

Operation of the Tufftalk Lite is very similar to the 2Talk with the use of a center button with a "+" and "-" button on either side. The Tufftalk controls have a large "jog" button and a separate phone button.  They can both be paired with either SPH10 or 2Talks using the Bluetooth 3.0 technology and function within a group. Both Tufftalk models have a "group intercom" function whereby all paired members can be accessed by pushing the "group" button on Tufftalk and the + and - buttons together on the Lite model. This can be handy for group training or when setting up a conference takes too long with Bluetooth 3.0 models. One other advantage of this technology is that signal strength is not diminished with added members (range is reduced by 1/2 when a 3rd or 4th member joins a SPH10 or 2Talk conference).

Both Tufftalk models are "over-the-top" head sets but also come as a "hard-hat" model for road crews, fire fighters, or heavy equipment operators. Either design is extremely comfortable and secure thanks to adjustable, heavily padded earpieces.

Tufftalk adds an extra dimension to our line-up for dozens of new applications and users and pricing is very competitive for these state-of-the art personal communication devices. Please call us at 864-275-7837 with any questions or for more information.
